A Shepherd Looks at Psalm 23

W. Phillip Keller

I do not use highlighters—at least, not in my books. I much prefer to keep the pages of any book clean and crisp. A Shepherd Looks at Psalm 23 is a far cry from my normal routine. Flip through my copy of Keller’s work and you will discover many highlighted sentences and (gasp!) even notes in the margin.

While Psalm 23 is the most well-known of all the psalms, there are not-so-well-known truths tucked away in these six verses of Scripture. Many of these truths can only be perceived from a man who is well-acquainted with the shepherd-sheep relationship. Keller was himself a shepherd for eight years of his life. His experience offers profound insight into the relationship between sheep and their shepherd.

The benefits of this book are two-fold. First, you will never read Psalm 23 the same again. Second, A Shepherd Looks at Psalm 23 will help you understand how meaningful it is to be a sheep under the care of the Good Shepherd. You will, along with the psalmist, declare, “The LORD is my Shepherd, I shall not be in want” (Psalm 23:1).
